The school where I got my Airframe and Powerplant mechanic's license just revamped its website. They contacted me to get a "testimonial" and then sent me an email with a link when the new site went up, which was this past week.
In addition to the current photo of me on the job that I sent them, I found that there was a picture of me at the school when I was a student. I don't even remember it being taken. Most of the pictures from the school that they used on the website were from my class, apparently, because I recognized a few of my classmates. We must have just been the most photogenic class, or something, because that was nearly ten years ago.
We got the test results today that Louie had no crystals in his pee, so he is cleared to continue eating the same food he has been. We have started to control his portions, though, in an effort to reduce his massive girth. He is one fat little dog.
This afternoon I took my final exam for my college class. I got a 92 and I am happy with that. I could have done better by agonizing over it longer, but there was no point because I still ended up with a 95 point something in the class. Yay! Time to sign up for the next one.
I have been emailing back and forth with my instructor from Airframe and Powerplant mechanics school, where I got the license that allowed me to become an aircraft mechanic and ultimately get my current job working on the shuttle program.
Through my instructor, I have been requested for a phone interview to the school's PR representative, for their website as a "success story." I am a success? That is news to me. Hey, whatever- I'll take what I can get. Also, I was requested for another interview from the state department of education for a publication they produce for middle schoolers about career choices. It is amazing to me that I could be a good influence on school children. Go figure. Both phone interviews will probably be conducted in the next couple of weeks, in the office of one of my company's PR reps to be on the safe side. I requested sample questions from both interviewers so that I can at least partially compose answers that will be tailored to the audiences they are intended for. For example, I do not want to speak very technically and in depth for an audience of sixth graders, because it will be over their heads and will not have the desired impact.
This whole phone interview thing is a whole new thing for me. Have you had interviews like this and how did you prepare for and/or handle them?
Posting was light this weekend, because I spent the vast majority of it hunched over my computer completing my final exam. I finally finished and submitted it late last night. Now I just have to turn in one more little discussion board assignment, and I am done. Phew.
I spent a ton of time on this exam, because I worked really hard on the midterm, and only got a high B. I want an A, so I worked even harder this time. Fingers crossed. Regular posting should now resume.
I am posting these photos because I really have to get some homework done tonight. I took my first quiz in my Legal Aspects of Safety and Health class and I got another 100%. I love how you can fill out your test/quiz and hit submit and get your grade instantly. At least it works that way for multiple choice, when you have essay questions you have to wait for the professor to grade them, but it is nice to get some of your scores instantly.
I just started my first class yesterday, and I took my first exam today. Granted, the first class is an orientation class, so it is no biggie, but at least I am moving in the right direction. I got 100% on the exam and have only one more orientation exam to take and then I will be ready to move on into the interesting stuff. Actually my first class is on Legal Aspects of Safety and Health and I start Friday. Moving right along!
